An unusual and gripping story

This was Jack Higgins' most successful novel and the one on which he has based his career. The story is about a crack unit of Germans sent to capture Churchill during the second world war. You know that they will fail before you start reading but the skill of the writing is that you become completely involved in this plan and the characters come to life for you. By the end you are not sure who are the heros, if anyone. This is a gripping thriller populated by believable people and with a sound and convincing plot.
